A Great Present!

Mid-Autumn Festival (and an eight-day vacation) is coming up and my teacher’s union gave me a gift card worth $216.30. This particular grocery store delivers, so I’m looking forward to that. The last time I had something delivered, it was from Ikea, my wardrobe doors that I bought for cheap to turn into shelving. I’m still waiting to scrape up enough cash for storage boxes, but I put up the shelves (with plastic trash can supports) and it has made such a difference. Much better than the saggy moving boxes I’d been using.

I really haven’t taken advantage of having food or anything else delivered to the apartment. My favorite rice place is quite far away from my house, and I wouldn’t want anyone having to navigate that on an ebike. Plus, I feel the exercise I get walking a half hour to McDonald’s, or to the little Muslim place nearby helps to negate any calories I might consume.

The food that I HAVE had delivered is whatever I can order through Baopals. But for some strange reason, my new (to me) computer is not allowing me to access Baopals. I have to order on my Chinese phone. It works, of course, but I’m used to having a big screen to scroll through all the choices I have.

Even using Bing (ugh) doesn’t work. VPN, no VPN, I just can’t get Baopals on my newish computer. Oh well.

Cozy at Home

After getting my errands done today and a nice, fattening meal at McDonald’s, and walking 12,000+ steps in very hot, sunny weather, I’m home. It’s pouring outside, and lightning and thundering, but I’m cozy here, in a cool, air conditioned room, with some ice cold water.

Sometimes, the best things are the simple things.

New Computer!

So I got my new computer. Also got my gas refund which has been in my account for almost a year. My landlord wouldn’t help me, so since I had some time on my hands, I was able to go to the gas company and get all my money back.

I also was able to get a cheap, delicious lunch of my favorite rice, Pu Pu Fried Rice, because they started in Xiamen in 2022. And that’s where I was today. Walked more than 15,000 steps too. And today was wonderfully sunny.

So it was a good day.
